SHILLONG, May 7: Troops of Border Security Force (BSF), Meghalaya Frontier, on Saturday apprehended 13 Bangladeshi nationals who had entered the Indian territory illegally through the international border in East Khasi Hills.
According to a statement here, three Indian nationals were also nabbed from the spot for allegedly facilitating the illegal cross-border movement of the Bangladeshi nationals. The trio, according to the BSF, hails from West Garo Hills.
“BSF got hold of them when Bangladeshi nationals came out of the jungle area close to the international border and were boarding a Tata Sumo vehicle which was already parked there,” the statement said.
The apprehended Bangladeshi nationals revealed that they entered India with an intention to further proceed to Kashmir to earn livelihood there through labour or other menial works.
The Bangladeshi nationals have been, meanwhile, handed over to Dangar Police Station for further action.
