Organisations in EJH for stage-II of hydel project

JOWAI, May 8: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) comprising pressure groups and student unions — Jaintia Student Union (JSU), Jaintia Youth Federation (JYF) and East Jaintia National Council (EJNC) — have submitted a joint letter of support for the upcoming Stage-II of Myntdu-Leshka Hydro Electric Project (MLHEP) to be constructed soon. The JAC has extended full support to the construction of Stage-II of the hydro-electric project hoping that it will benefit the state.
Besides the support, the JAC asked the implementing agencies and the government to enroll as many local skilled and unskilled workers as possible for any feasible work related to the project.
Meanwhile, the JAC also asked the government to include Borghat Village under the Local Area Development contending that it the village could directly or indirectly affect by the hydro-electric project in future.
