Prohibition
The District Magistrate of Ri-Bhoi has prohibited manufacture, sale, purchase, storage and use of Chinese/synthetic manjha and nylon thread or any other synthetic threads used for kite flying in Ri-Bhoi as they are made of plastic and are non-biodegradable in nature and cause problems such as blockage of sewers, drainage lines, rivers, streams, etc., as well as injury to people and animals.

Clarification
In the photo item published on Tuesday’s edition of The Shillong Times on page 3, the students depicted in the picture are from Lady Keane Girls Higher Secondary School and not Lady Keane College as mentioned.
