SHILLONG, May 16: The employees of MeECL, under the umbrella of Coordination Committee of Registered MeECL Employees Associations and Unions (CCORMAU) and Coalition Party of All Unions and Associations (CPAU&A), on Tuesday held a sit-in demonstration in protest against the ‘failure’ of the management to release their salaries for the month of April.
Talking to reporters, vice president of CCORMAU Arju Dkhar said that the management should not face any problem in releasing their salaries since the MeECL is generating substantial amount of revenue.
Lamenting that the delay in the disbursal of salaries has cause a lot of inconvenience to the employees, Dkhar said they would want the management to release their salaries on the 10th of every month.
He added that Rs 50 crore released to the MeECL was meant for the power purchase and clearing of the terminal benefit dues and not for release the pending salaries of the employees.
