SHILLONG, May 17: The Congress has cautioned the state government against acting in haste on a sensitive issue like the job reservation policy.
“We need to be farsighted in whatever we decide. We should not look at temporary benefits as it may affect the generations to come,” Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Ronnie V. Lyngdoh said on Wednesday.
Lauding Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma for convening an all-party meeting to discuss the issue, Lyngdoh said any decision taken should not benefit only a particular community.
Asserting that he was concerned about the problems of Khasi-Pnar job seekers, Lyngdoh said even Garo youths will have their own aspirations of getting good jobs.
“We need a balanced decision that would benefit everyone,” he added.
