The Office of the Director, North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), had invited applications from renowned scholars interested in research-oriented documentation works in ‘Folk & Tribal Music and Dances and Vanishing Art Forms of North East India’. According to a statement, the applicant should be an Indian citizen and indigenous inhabitant of the concerned state. “The selection of project proposals will be finalised by a panel of experts constituted by NEZCC. Application forms and other details can be collected from the office of the Directorate of Arts & Culture/Cultural Affairs or Shilpgram in Guwahati or Headquarter office in Dimapur. The form is also available on NEZCC website: https://nezccdimapur.org.in.” The deadline for the submission of applications has been fixed on July 28.

Unclaimed body
The Additional Director of Health Services (SS), Shillong Civil Hospital, has informed that one unknown male patient aged 38 years was admitted in the I.C.U., Bed No. 5 on May 11 at 11:36 am. The patient, however, passed away on the same day at 1:00 pm. In this regard, all concerned have been asked to collect the body from the hospital morgue immediately or within a period of three days, following which the same will be sent for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.

Meeting
As part of its centenary celebration, the Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Shillong, will organise a meet of ex-students on May 27 from 11:30 am at the school auditorium.

JNV test
The principal of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Niangbari, Ri-Bhoi, has announced the commencement of the online application process for admission to Class XI for the academic session 2023-24. A Lateral Entry Test in this regard will be conducted for the students seeking admission. Interested candidates who meet the eligibility criteria have been encouraged to submit their applications online before May 31. “The selection test for Class XI admission will be conducted on July 22, 2023,” the statement said.

Awareness
The Department of Botany at Saint Mary’s College, in collaboration with The Botanical Survey of India (BSI), Eastern Regional Centre, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, organised an awareness campaign and plantation of saplings for the BSc Botany Honours and BA Political Science students of Saint Mary’s College as part of Mission Life Programme. According to a statement here, the programme was attended by resource persons from BSI, who delivered a lecture on the importance of practising sustainable practices at the individual level and also led the students in taking a pledge for a sustainable way of living.
