Shillong, May 19: A significant number of Punjab police officials were deployed near Imran Khan’s residence in Lahore in Pakistan on Thursday.

They may launch a security operation at any time on Friday to apprehend the “terrorists” who are allegedly holed up there after the government’s 24-hour deadline to hand them over expired.

According to the interim Punjab administration, police action at Khan’s Zaman Park mansion is imminent because the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) missed the deadline to turn up the terrorists.

Hasan Bhatti, a senior police officer, stated on Thursday that eight residents of the Zaman Park neighbourhood who are thought to have been involved in the attacks on the army sites on May 9 have been arrested.

Khan’s party refuted the assertion, claiming that the police had transported a number of those who had been arrested to Zaman Park to show that they had been detained outside the home of their leader.

The armed police personnel have set up base close to Zaman Park. Additionally, police have constructed barriers to block all routes leading to Khan’s property. There are jammers in the neighbourhood.

According to reports cited by Geo News, both the capital city police officers and the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab police have urged the police to stay “vigilant.”
