TURA, May 21: A tour of different villages under Rongram Block in West Garo Hills by the BJP has reportedly revealed many villagers and entire villages being deprived of the various central schemes.
“On our visit to villages under Rongram Block on Sunday, we were informed that there were many villages under single Gram Sevak circle which were not included under JJM, PMAY, SAUBHAGYA, PMGSY etc. There are other villages which are in total darkness as their villages are yet to be electrified and they are not included under rural electrification and Saubhagya (Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana),” BJP MDC from Tura, Bernard N Marak said.
Other burning issues unearthed during the visit included lack of road connectivity under PMGSY and lowly maintained road conditions, non-inclusion of people above 60 years under the old-age pension schemes and farmers not getting any benefit from PM KISAN even after getting an ID.
“Many of these villagers are living in kutcha houses and are yet to get pucca houses under PMAY while others complained that some kilos of free rice goes missing every month. The complaints indicate that there is a need for proper coordination with the Gram Sevaks and the Blocks. Some villagers have been informed that their names have been listed for various schemes but nothing really came out from those lists,” the Tura MDC added.
According to Bernard, taking all these complaints into consideration, the party has decided to form committees in every GS circles to monitor the implementation of the Centre schemes.
“We will sensitise them on the various schemes and help them so that there are no lapses in implementation of the Centre sponsored schemes. We invite volunteers from every village to contact us and we shall send a team to coordinate and form the committees,” he assured.
