Base laid for road project in South Shillong

SHILLONG, May 22: The foundation stone for construction of a PWD road in South Shillong constituency was laid by local MLA Sanbor Shullai on Saturday.
The road has been sanctioned under the SPA Scheme at Rs 12.27 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, Shullai assured that the project will soon be implemented without any delay and expressed his gratitude to the land owners for donating their land.
Sanbor, who is also a Cabinet minister, also lauded the efforts of the officials of PWD and the government and also the active participation of the resident of the areas.
The programme was chaired by the village headman, Edward Kharwanlang, and prayer service was offered by Chairman of Election Committee George Arthur Warjri. Leaders of various dorbar shnong, church committee, puja committee, and local NGO’s were also present at the programme.
Others who spoke at the programme, have also lauded Shullai’s efforts in bringing about numerous developmental schemes for the welfare of the public at large.
