Need to renew moral code of conduct: Pala

MAWKYRWAT, May 22: Shillong MP Vincent H Pala has underlined the important role youths have to play in nation-building and development while stressing on the need to renew the important ideals and values so as to bring about a change in the society.
He was speaking as the chief guest of the one-day district-level ‘Yuva Utsav India @2047’ organised by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) at Nativity Higher Secondary School, Mawkyrwat, South West Khasi Hills, on Friday.
The Lok Sabha member said that youths should be responsible and indulge in activities that contribute towards uplifting the society.
He advised them to be careful in the choice of friends, and inculcate good habits, qualities and values.
Held under the theme ‘Panch Pran’, the programme was organised with the objective of developing India and remove any trace of colonial mindset, take pride in our heritage and legacy, promote unity and solidarity and inculcate a sense of duty amongst citizens.
The programme included different activities like young artist-painting, young writers-poetry, mobile photography, declamation contest and cultural festival, which were attended and participated by students from different schools within the district. Youth in the age group of 15 to 29 years were allowed to participate at the district, state and national level.
Mawkyrwat MDC Carness Sohshang, District Sport Officer Damang Syngkon, and village headman of Sohkhyllam, P Wanniang, also spoke on the occasion.
