Shillong, May 23: A 23-year-old man in Indore was arrested on accusation of raping his live-in girlfriend and coercing her to convert to another religion. After watching ‘The Kerala Story’, the woman and the man got into a fight, and she filed a FIR, according to the police.

According to Dinesh Verma, in-charge of the Khajrana police station, the man was arrested in accordance with the Indian Penal Code and the terms of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act 2021, which forbids forced or fraudulent conversion to another religion.

According to Dinesh Verma, who also noted that she was cohabitating with the accused, the woman filed the FIR against the man “after she fell into the trap of love under the pretence of marriage.”

The woman complained that the man had mentally abused her and pressured her to convert to a different religion.
