MAWKYRWAT, May 24: Youths from South West Khasi Hills under the banner of ‘Ka Sur U Paitbah’ will hold a rally on Thursday at Mawkyrwat in support of Voice of the People’s Party (VPP) chief Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit, who is on an indefinite hunger strike demanding the review of the job reservation policy.
According to Pynkhraw Kharjahrin, a member of the Ka Sur U Paitbah, the rally will start from Sngap Syiem College, Mawkyrwat, and will conclude at Mawkyrwat Market, which will be then followed by a public meeting.
Kharjahrin said the prime objective of the rally is to gather mass support for Basawiamoit and condemn the public representatives from the area who are keeping mum on the issue of reviewing the reservation policy.
He also called upon the people of the district to be part of the rally.
Meanwhile, the district administration has also green-lighted the rally and has, at the same time, cautioned against any breakdown of law and order.
