Shillong, May 27: A man and a woman belonging to different communities were attacked and heckled by a mob as they exited a hotel in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and two people who rushed to the couple’s aid were stabbed.

Two people from the 20-person mob have been arrested as a result of the incident. A video of the incident went viral on social media. The incident happened on Thursday night in the city, a police official said.

Rajesh Raghuvanshi, an additional deputy commissioner of police, stated that as the woman and man left the hotel after eating, the mob pursued, cornered and questioned the woman about why she was with a guy of a different faith.

“The woman claimed that she had informed her parents that she was coming to have dinner with the man. She also disapproved of their improper conduct. Two people who rushed to the couple’s aid, however, sustained injuries after being attacked with a knife by a member of the mob, according to the Additional DCP.
