The District Magistrate of South West Khasi Hills, T Lyngwa, has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting conduct of lucky draw during fishing competitions, fete, etc., throughout the district. The decision was taken after receiving information by the office that there were some people who conducted lucky draw during fishing competitions, fetes, etc. “This was an act of gambling,” the District Magistrate said.
