Shillong, May 30: The Voice of the People Party (VPP) president, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit will continue with his indefinite hunger strike even though the government has agreed to their demand to discuss the job reservation policy of 1972.

While addressing the people who had gathered at the parking lot near the additional secretariat here on Tuesday evening, VPP legislator from Mawlai, Brighstarwell Marbaniang said that the state government had slightly softened its stand on the demand of the party to discuss the reservation policy.

Informing that the government has invited the party to discuss the policy, Marbaniang informed that the ongoing indefinite hunger strike of the party president would continue as long as discussion with the government continued.

The VPP legislator further informed that they would continue with their protest if they felt that the deliberation with the government was not as per their expectations.

It may be mentioned that the VPP president has been on an indefinite hunger strike since Tuesday last.
