RBYF member succumbs to accident injuries

NONGPOH, June 3: Ri-Bhoi Youth Federation vice president Lankupar Sawkmie on Saturday succumbed to his injuries that he received following a road accident that took place in the wee hours of the same day in the city.
According to the sources, Sawkmie was riding a scooty at approximately 1:30 am when the accident took place near Demseiniong area.
It was informed that his scooty had skidded, causing him to fall and resulting in his helmet being dislodged, receiving a severe head injury.
Following the incident, he was admitted in Bethany Hospital in Shillong. Sawkmie, however, succumbed to his injuries at approximately 11 am on the same day.
Meanwhile, members of KSU, FKJGP, RBYF, among others, condoled the demise of Sawkmie.
They said that Sawkmie’s demise is not only a significant loss for the RBYF and the other pressure groups, but also for the entire Khasi and Jaintia community.
It may be mentioned that Sawkmie’s funeral will be held on June 5 at 2 pm. The final rites, on the other hand, will take place at the Mawkhar Presbyterian Cemetery in Lawmali.
