SHILLONG, June 5: The State BJP on Monday asked Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma to ensure that Meghalaya gets a new Assembly building before the parliamentary elections next year.
Stating that the new Parliament building inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28 was completed within 28 months, State BJP chief Ernest Mawrie said, “There was neither any untoward incident during the construction nor we have heard of any scam.”
“Meghalaya Assembly was unfortunately gutted in 2001 but successive governments have failed to give the state a new Assembly in all these years,” he said.
