Nomination
Following the Ministry of Defence memorandum, the state government has nominated the Commissioner and Secretary, Urban Affairs department as a member to look into the details of proposed modalities for excision of civil areas from the limits of Shillong Cantonment. It may be mentioned that the Ministry has constituted a committee to propose modalities for exclusion of civil areas from the purview of the Shillong Cantonment Board.
Blood donation
The Indian Red Cross Society Meghalaya State Branch will organise a voluntary blood donation camp at Gorkha Patshala Higher Secondary School, a JRC Unit of the Indian Red Cross Society, from 10:30 am on Thursday.
Plantation drive
Mining, geology and environment consultancy agency Novomine India Pvt Ltd in collaboration with Lions Club of Kolkata Riders United organised plantation drives at three limestone mines (Wahlong Limestone Mine, Umsaw Limestone Mine and Youroin Enterprise) of East Khasi Hills, during World Environment Day celebration.
