Shillong, June 13: In response to the recent outbreak of violence in Manipur, Chief Minister N Biren Singh expressed his solidarity with the affected individuals and pledged support to address their needs. He particularly emphasized providing educational arrangements for students affected by the unrest.

Several significant announcements were made by Singh, including the assurance of housing for displaced individuals and the establishment of educational facilities for students who have been residing in relief camps following the violence.

According to official records, approximately 47,000 people have been evacuated due to the volatile situation, with numerous homes being destroyed in the violence. The Chief Minister assured the affected population that the state government would stand alongside them and initiate the construction of around 4,000 houses for those displaced by the unrest. Although the detailed plan is yet to be finalized, the proposed houses are envisioned as two-room sets.

Recognizing the impact on education, especially for children, who are facing disruptions during Manipur’s tense period, Singh pledged comprehensive assistance to ensure that education remains a priority. He stated that arrangements were being made to enroll those displaced from Churachandpur, currently residing in camps in Imphal, in schools and colleges within the city.

The displaced people are currently residing in temporary shelters within the camps, and many have lost their essential documents, including Aadhaar cards. Since numerous government schemes at both the central and state levels are linked to Aadhaar, the state government has decided to facilitate the reissuance of Aadhaar cards for those who have misplaced or lost them due to the violence.
