SHILLONG, June 19: A fellowship lecture on ‘Effectiveness and Leadership’ was delivered by former CHRO, Patanjali Foods, Ashim Kumar Banerjee, at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, on Monday.
The event was jointly organised by the Shillong Chapter of Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkata, Shillong Chapter of Indian Society for Training & Development (ISTD), New Delhi, NEHU, Shillong and Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong (RCOCS).
The inaugural session started with the welcome address by president, RCOCS, Prof Devesh Walia, who is also the vice-chairman of ISTD.
He highlighted the interconnection between effectiveness and leadership. He said that the two concepts play a crucial role in achieving success and driving positive outcomes in various domains, including business, politics, and personal development. He also emphasised the key factors that contribute to effectiveness include clarity of purpose, planning and organisation, time management, problem-solving and decision-making.
Chief guest of the event, Ashim Kumar Banerjee, ex-CHRO, Patanjali Foods, in his fellowship lecture mentioned that a clear understanding of goals and objectives helps individuals or organisations prioritise tasks and allocate resources effectively.
He highlighted that effectiveness can be evaluated and measured differently. In the business world, effectiveness can be assessed in terms of achieving organisational objectives, increasing profitability, improving productivity, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof D Paul, Department of Environmental Studies, NEHU, who highlighted that communication is a vital aspect of effective leadership.
