SHILLONG, June 29: The long-awaited Shillong Western Bypass that is targetted to ease the traffic congestion in Shillong has been awarded to three different implementing agencies.
The 12.8-km package-I of the project has been awarded to Anusha Projects Pvt. Ltd – BKD Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd (joint venture) at a cost of Rs 185.49 crore while the sanctioned cost of the package is Rs 620.3 crore.
The 11.9-km package-II of the project has been awarded to Narendra Sharma – T.K. Engineering Consortium Pvt. Ltd. (joint venture) at a cost of Rs 199.89 against a sanctioned cost of Rs 686.03.
The 13.556-km, which is the third package, has been awarded to BRN Infrastructures Pvt. Ltd at a cost of Rs 154 crore while the sanctioned cost is Rs 562.48 crore.
Once completed, the Shillong Western Bypass will decongest the capital city since vehicles coming from Assam would be able to proceed directly to Dawki and Sohra without having to enter the city.
