Shillong, July 3: Twitter, the popular micro-blogging platform, is set to introduce a new feature that will allow users to post videos longer than 3 hours. The announcement came after Twitter-owner Elon Musk engaged in a conversation with comedian and podcaster Theo Von on the platform.
When Von tweeted, “Comedy is legal on this platform!” Musk responded, and the host of the Lex Fridman Podcast, Lex Fridman, joined the conversation, expressing his desire for the ability to upload 3+ hour podcast videos with timestamps and chapters. Musk replied, “Coming.”
Other users chimed in, with one requesting more features like a meme editor, while another user mentioned the need for faster upload times.
Earlier in May, Musk had already revealed that Twitter Blue Verified subscribers would be able to upload 2-hour videos (8GB) on the platform. Twitter Blue is a paid subscription service that offers additional features.
While the new feature will extend the video length, the maximum upload quality will remain at 1080p. Twitter had previously raised the video file size limit for paid users from 2GB to 8GB.
With this upcoming update, Twitter aims to provide users with more flexibility in sharing longer videos on the platform, catering to podcasters and content creators who require extended video durations.
