Shillong, July 4: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a major organizational reshuffle ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. In this restructuring, new state chiefs have been appointed for Punjab, Telangana, Jharkhand, and Andhra Pradesh. Here are the key appointments:
Telangana: Union Minister G Kishan Reddy has been named as the president of the BJP’s Telangana unit. He will be taking over from Bandi Sanjay Kumar, another BJP MP from Karimnagar.
Punjab: Sunil Jakhar, a three-time MLA and former MP, has been appointed as the head of the BJP’s Punjab unit. He will be replacing Ashwini Sharma, the current state chief.
Jharkhand: Babulal Marandi, the first chief minister of Jharkhand, will be taking charge as the new BJP state chief. He will be succeeding Deepak Prakash, a BJP Rajya Sabha MP.
Andhra Pradesh: D Purandeswari, a former Union Minister, has been chosen as the BJP president for Andhra Pradesh. She will be replacing Somu Veerraju, and sources indicate that he will be given a suitable position within the party.
