Police suspect IED use in ‘suicide’ case

SHILLONG, July 3: A 38-year-old person was killed on Monday in a blast at his home in East Khasi Hills. Police said that indications of IED were found at the scene of the blast.
It is also suspected that the case may be of suicide as the family members of the victim had mentioned that the deceased had earlier attempted suicide twice.
The person who had been unwell for the past three months was sleeping in his room at the time of the blast, the police said.
The incident took place at the house of Pynsuklang Khongwir in Smit town in the morning hours.
Glass panes of the house were smashed due to the impact of the explosion, a resident of the area said.
The body of the deceased has been kept at the morgue room of NEIGRIHMS for post-mortem examination, the police added. (With inputs from PTI)
