Shillong, July 9: The Shillong College on Saturday held a thanksgiving programme after the college was recently awarded with A+ accreditation by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a CGPA of 3.33 points valid for a period of 5 years.
Speaking on the occasion, Shillong College principal, Dr E Kharkongor said that the journey of NAAC began in 2016 where the college was awarded with A accreditation by NAAC.
“Everyone disliked NAAC when the journey begun since a lot of work had to be done and it was a hectic exercise. But we have to admit that it was NAAC who motivated us to do the best,” Dr Kharkongor said.
She said that this achievement would not have been possible without the efforts of each and every faculty, non-teaching staff and everyone who is connected with the college. “What impressed me most was the interest of the institution  was paramount for everyone and it was most rewarding in terms of growth. We have all grown in the process,” Shillong College principal said.
Dr Kharkongor also lauded the efforts to give a facelift to the college library and the process of digitisation was even lauded by NAAC which is commendable.
With the latest NAAC ranking, the college, founded in 1956, achieved the highest grade among other colleges assessed by the NAAC till date in Meghalaya.
