Shillong, July 18: Indian-American executive Anjali Sud is set to take the reins as the Chief Executive Officer of Tubi, Fox Corporation’s free ad-supported streaming service, starting September 1.

Having recently stepped down as CEO of Vimeo after nine successful years, Sud will succeed Farhad Massoudi, Tubi’s founder, and current chief executive. Sud expressed her enthusiasm, stating that Tubi can become the preferred destination for the next generation of audiences as the future of streaming TV heads towards free platforms.

Tubi has achieved a significant milestone by becoming the most-watched free ad-supported TV streaming service in the US, boasting 64 million monthly active users, according to Nielsen. Since its acquisition by Fox for $440 million in 2020, Tubi has outperformed competitors like PlutoTV, Peacock, and HBO Max in total TV viewing minutes.

Tubi is a crucial part of FOX’s digital business unit, Tubi Media Group, under the leadership of Paul Cheesbrough. The group includes Tubi, AdRise, Blockchain Creative Labs, and Credible, along with digital platforms and teams supporting FOX’s wider digital business in news, sports, and entertainment.

In her new role, Sud will report to Cheesbrough, who praised her as a highly accomplished executive in the technology and media industry, known for strategic disruption and authentic leadership. During her tenure as CEO of Vimeo, Sud transformed the platform into a thriving community with over 300 million users, driving significant revenue growth and cash flow.

Before her time at Vimeo, Sud held positions in finance, media, and e-commerce at Time Warner and Amazon. With her extensive experience and expertise, she is well-positioned to lead Tubi into a new era of creativity, growth, and market leadership.
