SHILLONG, July 18: The High Court of Meghalaya on Tuesday declined to interfere into the matter pertaining to the relocation of residents from Them Iew Mawlong, saying that since the state government and Harijan Panchayat Committee are trying to negotiate an amicable settlement, the court’s interference is not warranted.
“However, it has been repeated on several occasions that the matter has dragged on for far too long,” the court said while fixing the next hearing after six weeks in the hope that a solution will be reached by then.
