SHILLONG, July 20: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday said the demand for amnesty by the proscribed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council was under examination and a final decision will be taken by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and not the state government.
“We are going into the peace talks with an open mind to find a solution. We will examine whatever is under constitutional provisions and how much we can accommodate,” he said.
He said the state government is determined to move forward with the talks and they would try to address all the concerns.
