Shillong College hosts debate competition

SHILLONG, July 20: An inter-college debate competition, on the theme ‘Thermal Power as a Solution to Meghalaya’s Energy Crisis’, was organized by the Science Department of Shillong College as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebration, on Thursday.
A total of 14 participants from seven colleges participated in the competition with each institution sending one student each for and against the motion. The award of ‘Most Humorous Speaker’ was won by Adrita Bhattacharjee of St. Mary’s College. Bidisha Gogoi of Lady Keane College was awarded the ‘Best Speaker’. A team from Lady Keane College comprising Bina Sharma and Bidisha Gogoi won the competition as ‘Best Team’.
As part of the day’s programme, a documentary entitled ‘Evolution of Teaching Science (1963-2023) at Shillong College’ was showcased.
