Shillong, August 2: In a recent turn of events, the Haryana Police have taken 116 individuals into custody and filed approximately 29 First Information Reports (FIRs) late on Tuesday in response to the communal clashes that erupted on Monday during a religious procession organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Haryana’s Nuh district. Tragically, the clashes resulted in the loss of five lives, including two home guards, a civilian, and an Imam, in the Nuh region.

India Today reported that as the situation escalated, Gurugram witnessed fresh violence on Tuesday night, putting the neighboring city of Delhi on high alert. In response to the unrest in the area, authorities have ordered the closure of all government and private educational institutions in the Sohna sub-division of Gurugram on Wednesday, August 2.

Reacting to the clashes in the Mewat region, the VHP has called for a protest, scheduled for today. The VHP, along with the Bajrang Dal, plans to hold a Mahapanchayat at 4 pm on Wednesday at Bhisam Das Mandir in Manesar. Additionally, the right-wing organization has announced a “major demonstration” in Noida on the same day. According to Rahul Dubey, the publicity chief of VHP, the protest march will commence from the Noida stadium in Sector 21A and proceed towards Rajnigandha Chowk in Sector 16, where an effigy will be burned.

A day after the clashes in Nuh, a mob set fire to a restaurant and vandalized adjacent shops in Gurugram’s Badshahpur. The mob specifically targeted shops belonging to a particular community and chanted slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” in front of a mosque in the area, leading to the shutdown of the Badshahpur market.

With the situation escalating, the Delhi Police have enhanced patrolling in the national capital as a precautionary measure. They have urged citizens not to pay heed to rumors on social media and to contact emergency services at 112 in case of any assistance required. Authorities are closely monitoring the situation, especially in light of the recent incidents in Gurugram and surrounding areas.

Haryana’s Deputy Chief Minister, Dushyant Chautala, has placed the blame for the violence on the organizers of the religious procession conducted by VHP. He cited incomplete information provided to the administration as a key factor that led to the unfortunate incident.

As the authorities take necessary actions to restore peace and order, the situation remains tense in the affected areas. The authorities are working to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent any further escalation of violence.
