Shillong, August 4: Heavy rains triggered flashfloods and a landslide on the Kedarnath Yatra route in Uttarakhand on Friday, resulting in several people reported missing.
Relief and rescue operations are underway near Gaurikund, led by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). The rescue efforts are facing challenges due to ongoing heavy rains and intermittent falling boulders from the hillsides, as reported by Circle Officer Vimal Rawat to PTI.
The missing individuals have been identified as Vinod (26), Mulayam (25), Ashu (23), Priyanshu Chamola (18), Ranbir Singh (28), Amar Bohra, his wife Anita Bohra, their daughters Radhika Bohra and Pinki Bohra, and sons Prithvi Bohra (7), Jatil (6), and Vakil (3), according to officials.
