Railiang Police OP upgraded to full-fledged station

Shillong, August 8/–/ Raliang Police Outpost was  formally upgraded to a full-fledged Raliang Police Station by Comingone Ymbon, Minister for  Civil Defence &Home Guards in the presence of C. Syrti, Superintendent of Police West Jaintia Hills. The meeting was attended by the village representative of the area and distinguished personalities.

The chief guest in his speech stated that he had been pushing hard the government to obtain the upgradation of the outpost and stress that the upgradation is not due to the rise in crime in the area, but it is an initiative to bring administration closer to the people.

He said this day would be a memorable day whereby the people will be no longer required to go to Jowai for any Police Station work.He appealed to local Dorbar Shnonh to facilitate acquisition of more land for the new police station for its smooth operation in the greater interest of people.
