Shillong, August 9: Bollywood dynamo Ranveer Singh has been anointed as the fresh ‘Don’ and is set to star in Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming movie, ‘Don 3′.

As per IANS, the reveal came via Farhan’s Excel movie production, which unveiled the actor taking on the iconic role, a day following the franchise’s announcement.

In a captivating snippet, Ranveer, before unveiling himself as Don, declares, “The lion that sleeps, ask when it wakes. Tell them I’ve awakened and will soon show them my strength, my courage. To challenge death is to live my life; victory is my duty. You all know my name. Eleven countries’ police search for me, but who has caught me? I am Don.”

Ranveer is poised to embark on a novel interpretation of this larger-than-life character, bringing it to life in 2025.

Farhan Akhtar, who directed the earlier Don installments (2006 and 2011), both starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan as the titular character, announced on social media that work on the film will commence in 2025.

The Don character was conceived by Farhan’s father, Javed Akhtar, alongside his then-collaborator Salim Khan, the father of Bollywood icon Salman Khan. The original ‘Don’ was portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan, with the film’s release dating back to 1978.

The ‘Don’ series has always been synonymous with captivating plots, electrifying action, and unforgettable scenes. ‘Don 3’ will mark a collaboration between Ranveer and esteemed filmmaker Farhan Akhtar, who is set to helm the director’s role once more for this franchise.

Backed by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Entertainment, the film is slated for release in 2025.
