Guwahati, August 9: A civil services study centre, funded by the State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), was inaugurated at Cotton University here on Tuesday.
Notably, SITA had signed memorandums of agreement (MoA) with five universities and colleges of Assam in a bid to create an ecosystem for encouraging the candidates from the state to succeed in the All India Civil Services examinations.
Four institutes have already started the project.
SITA vice chairman Ramen Deka inaugurated the Cotton University Civil Services Centre and handed over the first installment fund (Rs 10 lakh) to the authorities to start a joint project namely – “Civil Services Study Centre at Universities and Colleges” at an official function held at Sudmersen Hall, Cotton University.
It may be recalled that an MoA was signed between SITA and Cotton University on June 19, 2023 leading up to the inauguration of the study centre on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by officials of SITA and faculty members of Cotton University including several students of the college.
Inaugurating the centre, Deka advised the students to take this opportunity to do well in their civil service examinations.
Co-vice chairman Dhruba Prasad Baishya, who was present in the programme, said bureaucrats are the permanent executives of the administration and students should aim to reach that goal with the amenities provided to them now.
The purpose of the project is to provide motivation, proper guidance, basic infrastructure and study materials for the success of candidates from Assam in the All India level Civil Service Examinations.
