Assam STF seizes truck for illegally ferrying urea

Guwahati, August 10: A team from the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police seized a truck found to be illegally carrying 100 bags of IFFCO urea concealed under bags of onion at Amingaon in Kamrup district in the wee hours of Thursday, official sources said.

The officer in-charge of STF police station and the officer in-charge of North Guwahati   police along with other police staff conducted an operation on the basis of source information and intercepted the truck bearing registration number AS-15AC-6752 at Amingaon at 1.45am.

“The truck was found to be illegally carrying 100 bags of IFFCO urea and the urea bags were concealed under bags of onion. No valid or legal documents could be produced by the driver who was identified as Md Ajijul Shikdar, a resident of Hafsachor under Kasomara police station in Barpeta district,” an official statement issued here said.

A case has been registered at STF police station and necessary legal action has been initiated accordingly.
