Shillong, August 16: Tapasi Roy, whose late husband served in CRPF, is BJP’s candidate for the upcoming Dhupguri bypolls in West Bengal.

She aims to focus on local healthcare and women’s development if elected. The bypolls will witness a three-way contest among Trinamool Congress, BJP, and CPI(M), with the Congress supporting the CPI(M) candidate.

The election results will be announced on September 8. The by-election was triggered by the passing of BJP legislator Bishnu Pada Roy in July. He had won against the Trinamool Congress MLA in the 2021 elections.
