Tura, August 19: A 55-year-old man accused of rape, died by suicide yesterday while he was under custody in Williamnagar Police Station in Garo Hills.
The deceased identified Jitman M Sangma, was a resident of Rongsak near Williamnagar. Sources informed that he hanged himself by using his vest that was tied to the ventilator.
He had been arrested on a sexual assault case on Aug 17 after an FIR had been filed by the victim.
