Two arrested in WGH in drugs related cases

TURA, Aug 20: In yet another crackdown on the drug menace, police in West Garo Hills have foiled a drug smuggling bid and arrested one person leading to the recovery of contraband items.
According to police, credible information was received that one person is coming from Assam to Phulbari in a boat with contraband items.
A checking was conducted near Dhenarkuti Ghat of Phulbari during which one person identified as Soker Ali (30), along with 24 nos of Soap box/case containing suspected heroin was detected leading to his arrest.
During the operation, police were able to recover 260 grams (with polythene of 6 grams) of suspected heroin (24 soap boxes) and one mobile phone.
The arrested person hails from Fakirganj in South Salmara district of Assam.
Earlier on Saturday evening, CRPF personnel based at Phulbari also apprehended one person and recovered drugs from his possession.
On that occasion, one, Mominur Islam was apprehended after a tip-off from vigilant public from the area. Altogether, 12 vials containing suspected heroin (3.47 grams), cash worth Rs 750 and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.
