119 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Assam organises Unity Run 2023

SHILLONG, Aug 20: 119 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army ) ASSAM and the localities of Lawsohtun, Lumshatsngi-Kench’sTrace came together for ‘Unity Run 2023’.
The event, aimed at fostering stronger tiesand mutual respect, saw participation by children as young as 4 to seasoned veteransaged 75, embracing the spirit of togetherness.
Event distances ranged from a friendly 2.5 km, perfect for little feet, 5Km for leisurely walkers, to the more challenging 10 km for avid runners, there was something for everyone.
Major CP Marak, IFS (Retd), Ex Principal CCF and HoFF (Principal Chief Conservator ofForests and Head of Forest Force) Meghalaya – commented on the day’s success.
“It’s heartwarming to see the community come out and participate with such strong spirits,as we say in the IFS “A strong mind resides in a healthy body”. We must focus on physical and mental fitness and say no to drugs and ill habits”
Colonel SK Tripathi, Commanding Officer 119 Inf Bn (TA) ASSAM echoed “ It’s essentialfor our young ones to see the army as approachable, as friends.
“Today, they’ve not only seen it, but they’ve also run alongside them.”
“Apart from the races, there were also booths set up to provide refreshments and other facilities for the runners, their friends and family.
