JOWAI, Aug 21: Alleging that several Teer counters are reportedly operating in the district without valid licences, the Meghalaya People United Front (MPUF) East Jaintia Hills District, on Monday, prodded East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner to allow the organisation to conduct a checking.
The NGOs in the district have alleged that many Teer counter owners have only one licence but operate two or three counters.
The MPUF has pointed out that this will result in revenue loss to the district if kept unchecked.
