SHILLONG, Aug 23: Police have launched a massive manhunt for two miscreants who allegedly made a failed bid to kidnap a nursery student of Laitumkhrah Presbyterian Higher Secondary School at around 12.30 pm on Wednesday.
Police said the two miscreants, reported to be non-tribals, had gone to meet the Principal and the teacher with a request to take the student home claiming that her mother had sent them since she was unwell.
Police said the Principal and the teacher had a suspicion and refused to hand over the child to them saying they did not recognize them. The school authorities also alerted the child’s mother after which they left.
Another report said that the same miscreants later attempted to abduct a student of class 6 when he was on his way home but he managed to escape from their clutches.
