Jowai, August 26: In one of the areas of contention in West Jaintia Hills that remains in a heated disagreement between Meghalaya and Assam, it seems that the Assam wishes to snatch  this section of Meghalaya territory without hesitation and it was reflected in action of local Karbi population and Assam Police today in Lapangap village.

It is reported that Assam police, KSA members and Karbi people entered  Lapangap  and fired slingshots at on-duty Meghalaya police with catapults. The Meghalaya Polce personnel preferred to flee rather than retaliating to avoid any further unwanted outcome.

It was reported the Assam police had already set up patrolling camp in the  proximity that might have given confidence to Karbi people to occupy this fertile village.
