Shillong, August 28: Challenging the dominance of Zomato and Swiggy in the online food delivery market, the government-led Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) announced that it now hosts 50,000 live restaurants for online ordering across 172 cities.

As per IANS, the remarkable surge in restaurant participation on the Open Network has seen a staggering growth from 500 in February 2023 to 50,000 by August 2023.

ONDC’s journey, which began with its first order in September 2022, has led to this significant milestone. T. Koshy, MD and CEO of ONDC, expressed excitement about the platform’s role in shaping the future of online food delivery within the ecommerce ecosystem.

This achievement is attributed to Seller Network Participants (NPs) such as Magicpin, uEngage, Bitsila, EkSecond, Growth Falcons, Mystore, nStore, and eSamudaay, who are central to ONDC’s expansion.

Looking ahead, ONDC aims to double the count of restaurants by the end of 2023. Consumers can seamlessly order food from the ONDC Network through Buyer Apps like Paytm, Pincode, Magicpin, Mystore, and more.
