Hek takes stock of state of affairs government livestock farms in Garo hills

Shillong, August 29: A L Hek, Minister for Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Meghalaya visited Garo hills to review implementation of schemes and functioning of government farms.

He interacted with senior officers, all District Veterinary Officers and Farm Managers and urged them to take up challenge and work hard collectively to promote livestock sector to create jobs.

He urged governments farms — poultry farms, pig farms and cattle farms — to increase output and produce more piglets, poultry birds and dairy calves for supplying to farmers.

He also informed that schemes would be sanctioned to revamp government farms to increase production of piglets, poultry birds and cows.

He visited central dairy plant at Ganol and inaugurated Milk Parlour at the Dairy Plant which will supply hygiene fresh milk and milk products to public.

He also inaugurated workers amenities building at Ganol.

He visited poultry farms and cattle farms at Rongkhon and reviewed the infrastructure and the scope for improving infrastructure to meet the target.
