Medical camp
A free medical camp was conducted at Laitkyrhong village in East Khasi Hills on Saturday which benefitted more than 80 persons, mostly women and infant, who were also provided free medicines. It was organised by the North East India region of YMCAs in collaboration with Shillong YMCA. The medical team comprised Dr WB Langstieh (general medicine), Dr Mebalariiaka Syiem (pediatric), Dr Warimeki Ryntathiang (general medicine), Kynsai Chyne (pharmacist), KML Mawnai and team (paramedical staff).
Blood donation
A voluntary blood donation camp-cum-awareness programme was organised by Red Ribbon Club and NSS unit of St. Dominic’s College in collaboration with Pasteur institute and Meghalaya Aids Control Society on Monday. The staff and students of the college actively participated during the event.
Unclaimed body
One person, namely Mukesh Das, aged 33 years, who was lodged at Half Way Home Tura, West Garo Hills, passed away on August 23. According to a communiqué issued by the district magistrate, the deceased was a mental patient and undergoing treatment at Tura Civil Hospital. The kin of the deceased have been asked to claim the body for last rites within 72 hours.
Nomination
The Meghalaya government has nominated DD Shira, Joint Secretary, Power department, as the Nodal Officer on matters related to Meghalaya Right to Public Services Act, 2020 in respect of the Power department.
