Tura, Aug 31: The President and Secretary of Haripur VEC in West Garo Hills on Thursday refuted the allegation of fund misappropriation made against them by job card holders claiming that vested interests persons had instigated them to file the complaint.

President of the VEC Abdul Bashid Sarkar and Secretary Lal Bahadur Islam clarified that the allegation that several lakhs of MGNREGS funds were misappropriated by them is incorrect as the wage money is credited to the individual Bank Accounts of the job car holders leaving no room for such malpractices. The VEC leaders also rubbished the ‘self styled leaders’ put on them informing that they were elected as per rules by the job card holders.

The VEC leaders in the clarification also claimed that the complaint against them was made by only a section of the job card holders on the instigation by vested interest persons, and that a majority of them were in support of their leadership.
