Shillong, September 3: Elon Musk is actively steering Twitter toward its long-envisioned status as the comprehensive ‘everything app’ known as ‘X’.

As per India Today, recent days have seen a flurry of changes introduced by ‘X,’ with more innovations anticipated. These alterations encompass diverse facets, ranging from the introduction of video calls to evolving data handling and political advertising policies. One significant upcoming change involves restricting poll participation to verified users exclusively.

Twitter polls have traditionally served as a tool for both individuals and companies to glean insights on various subjects. However, in the future, this privilege will be reserved for subscribers of Twitter Blue. Musk’s rationale behind this decision is to safeguard Twitter polls from spamming by automated bots. Responding to a tweet advocating for limiting polls to verified users, Musk commented, “We’re changing polls to allow votes only by verified users. That’s essential to prevent polls from being inundated by bot activity, particularly on contentious topics.”

Furthermore, Twitter recently unveiled plans to facilitate audio and video calls on the platform. This feature will be accessible to all users, irrespective of their choice of Twitter access, whether via Android, iOS, or desktop. Notably, users won’t be required to disclose their phone numbers to connect with their contacts through calls.

Musk, in a tweet, shared this announcement, underscoring that “Video & audio calls are coming to ‘X,’ and it will function seamlessly on iOS, Android, Mac, and PC without the necessity of sharing phone numbers. ‘X’ serves as the effective global address book, an exceptional amalgamation of functionalities.”
