EJH cops seize drugs worth Rs 8 crore

SHILLONG, Sep 3: In another major drug bust, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of the state police seized 10.16 kg of crystal meth (mescaline) at Kongong, East Jaintia Hills.
According to police, the banned crystal meth being carried by one Lalmungsanga Beingaichho is worth around Rs 8.26 crore.
Beingaichho, the suspected drugs supplier, was arrested.
Earlier, police received credible input that Beingaichho was travelling from Aizwal via Silchar towards Khliehriat in a tourist vehicle.
Accordingly, the ANTF team set up a naka checking at Kongong and subsequently detained the vehicle whose occupant was the suspected drug supplier.
On conducting a search, a total of 10 black packets were found from a suitcase. Preliminary test revealed that the substance in the suitcase was crystal meth (mescaline). (With PTI inputs)
