Shillong, September 4: E-commerce giant Flipkart has announced plans to generate more than 100,000 direct and indirect job opportunities within its supply chain, encompassing fulfillment centers, sortation centers, and delivery hubs, in preparation for the upcoming festive season.

As per IANS, these seasonal positions will be inclusive, offering opportunities to local Kirana delivery partners, women, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and others, thereby fostering diversity within the supply chain workforce.

Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and ReCommerce at Flipkart Group, stated, “This year, we are also creating over a lakh new job opportunities in our supply chain while also investing in skilling initiatives to deliver an elevated customer experience as we strengthen our footprint across the country. This year, we plan to deliver more than 40 per cent of shipments through our Kirana delivery program.”

In addition to job creation, Flipkart has expanded its supply chain infrastructure by establishing last-mile distribution hubs and large-scale fulfilment centers. This expansion enhances the company’s reach in tier-III cities and beyond, with more than 19 lakh square feet of added space across various states, including Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Punjab, Rajasthan, Telangana, and more.

To ensure a seamless end-customer experience, Flipkart conducts specialized skilling initiatives through training programs for its supply chain workforce. This not only enhances the employability of local talent but also contributes to the overall economy.

The training covers supply chain processes, proficiency in handling Hand-Held Devices, PoS Machines, scanners, various mobile applications, and more. Consequently, these employees are well-prepared for roles in tech-driven supply chains, food tech, and related industries.
