Shillong , Sept 6: Senior BJP leader and a minister in Meghalaya, Alexander Laloo Hek today said that former party leader, HM Shangpliang had met him on Tuesday to inform about his decision to resign from the party since he no longer could function with the style of functioning of BJP state president, Ernest Mawrie.
“He (Shangpliang) had mentioned this point even in the resignation letter. Not only Shanpliang, everyone will agree including leaders from Garo Hills that the party cannot grow under the leadership of the present president,” Hek told reporters here.
Stating that the tenure of Mawrie has already ended, he said that the party central leadership had not been able to take any decision since there are elections in many of the States.
“But I am sure that the party central leadership must now be aware about the current state of affairs in the party following the decision of Shangpliang to resign from the party,” he said.
The BJP Minister said that the resignation of a leader like Shangpliang is definitely a huge loss for the party.
